Pupils of Lady Eleanor Holles

A visually stunning Exhibition of Liberty Print portraits by pupils of The Lady Eleanor Holles school, Hampton.
A project masterminded by Head of Art Sarah Pauffley whereby each student was asked to produce a self portrait as part of LEH’s 300th anniversary celebrations.
Liberty generously donated the Tana Lawn fabrics that were used to create these self portraits. The unique qualities of Tana Lawn, with its rich range of colours and small scale repeat print, was an ideal choice enabling the students to create the amazing tones within their portraits. A remarkable achievement by GCE level students aged 15-16.

chaim stephenson - a retrospective

Retrospective exhibition celebrating the work of sculptor Chaim Stephenson
on show in the Gallery and Garden.

Private, spiritual, sensitive, with a powerful inner strength - all could equally describe the man Chaim Stephenson and his work. A Sculptor for over 50 years exhibiting in one-man and mixed shows across the UK and abroad, his work is in a number of private collections. A major piece, dedicated by Desmond Tutu in 1994 at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church Trafalgar Square stands as a memorial to victims of apartheid.
Mainly figurative, Chaim produces work in a variety of media including bronze, plaster, wood, resin and metal. His work varies in size from exquisitely small and tactile hand held pieces to full-size figures, often reflecting his apprehensions about the state of the world. His work can sit equally well indoors or outside.
We are proud to host this retrospective look at Chaim Stephenson the Sculptor.

Tuesday 1 May to Sunday 27 May

allure of concrete

Rebecca Fairley is a graduate of Huddersfield University, achieving a degree in Surface Design for Fashion and Interiors. The focus of her work towards the end of her studies has been material manipulation and working in particular with concrete which she moulds using unlikely materials, such as knit and crochet, forming exciting surfaces that juxtapose the idea of hard and soft. Strong colours are introduced along with materials such as glass and plastic creating a playful mix which challenges the way concrete is commonly perceived. (A projected slide show will accompany the work on display)
