THE LIFE OF A HERBPupils from Manor Mead School for children with special needs will grow and nurture their very own herb at school and at the Embroidery Gallery. They will see how the herb grows and explore its uses in everyday life. A hands on project supported by Squire's Garden Centre, Shepperton. Artist Donagh Curwen will assist the children in making a wall collage of herbs in mixed media to be displayed at the Gallery from 21 to 30 June. 'Circles of Life' a contemporary twist on Shakespeare’s 'The Seven Ages of Man' monologue from As You Like It. Best remembered for her elaborate and exquisitely made bags selected for exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum in 2003, Jill has continued to experiment and develop using a unique manipulation of stitch and scraps of printed matter trapped into a crusty lace-like fabric to create a series of light hearted theatrical pieces with a 'wow' factor as they draw the viewer in for a closer look. |
